BronxArtSpace (BAS) invites applicants with a strong affiliation with the Bronx to submit proposals for a thematic group exhibition to be presented at BAS. The exhibition will be on view March 30 - May 12, 2018. Applicants should be from or currently live or work in the Bronx.

Proposals should include at least 4 local artists. BAS encourages applications that contribute to the gallery’s commitment to diversity. Proposals will be judged on merit and adherence to guidelines. Curators may not include their own work in the exhibition. Extra consideration will be given to those in the beginning stages of their curatorial careers.

Curators will receive a $200 honorarium and a budget of $500 to split between the artists. BAS will cover costs of postcards and vinyl, and provide an installer for 2 days.

Curatorial Proposal (500-1000 words, pdf)

Please share with us your conceptual and physical vision of the exhibition including any public programs, summary of the artists’ work, and your professional experience. Your proposal should outline both the background of and plan for the exhibition in detail.


Checklist (pdf)

A detailed work sample list formatted as follows:
- Filename (eg. ARTISTLASTNAME_1.jpg or URL if VIDEO/AUDIO)
- Artist Name, Artwork Title, year, medium, dimensions/duration
- Any additional info as needed


Work Samples

15 IMAGES and/or VIDEO total

IMAGES should be JPG or PNG and no larger than 2MB with file names formatted as such: ARTISTLASTNAME_1.jpeg. Submit at least one image per artist.

VIDEO/AUDIO should be submitted as URL links. Vimeo is preferred for video. Soundcloud is preferred for audio. Please note that samples exceeding 3 minutes may not be viewed in their entirety. For longer pieces we recommend creating an excerpt or providing a cue point in the notes.
