This fall, Vandals to Vanguard will bring together a group of New York City women who came up through the graffiti scene of the 1990s and 2000s and have continued to evolve their creativity into careers across the arts and entrepreneurial world.

Curated by artist KayLove, Vandals to Vanguard explores the progression of women who began their creative journeys as taggers, bombers and piecers, taking their work to the streets and making their mark on New York City's graffiti culture. Today, many of these artists have expanded their practices far beyond the walls and trains where they first developed their voices. Their creative careers now include store owners, glass blowers, textile artists, photographers, fashion designers, mural artists and graphic designers.

The exhibition celebrates that evolution—not as a departure from graffiti culture, but as an extension of the creativity, discipline and entrepreneurial spirit developed through it.

Along with their artwork, each participating artist will share a short testimonial reflecting on their connection to graffiti culture, their creative journey and the passion that has kept them creating.

The exhibition will also feature portraits of the artists photographed by Bronx photographer and Seis del Sur member Abigail Montes, adding a personal dimension to the work and documenting the women behind the art.
